Findability

Whether a person can locate what they need using only the labels and structure the product actually gives them.

The user-facing outcome all information architecture serves: can someone find the thing without already knowing where it “should” be. The most common failure in the wild is navigation organised around the org chart – department names, product-line names – instead of the words a user would reach for.

The fix is always the same and always underused: test category names against real users’ language, not the company’s internal one.
